Capturing Events In Your Travel Journal

A simple dinner can be a wonderful ‘event’ to capture in your Travel Journal.   Capturing Events in Your Travel Journal  Our travel experiences are often filled with lots of ‘event’ experiences - some of them big events (major concerts) and some of them small events (birthday party). In fact, I’m a pretty firm believer that everything in our lives can be translated into an event. So let’s take a brief look at how you can capture events in your Travel Journal. This was the ‘critter’ sitting next to us on our final evening dinner in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Yes, it...

Your Travel Journal and the Sense of Smell…

Capturing Your 5 Senses Your Travel Journal and the Sense of Smell  I’ve always been a big proponent of using all of your senses when doing a Travel Journals. In reality, it’s a very simple way to add such wonderful character to your descriptions of the places you’ve visited, meals you’ve enjoyed, and so much more. He knew I painted on ephemera and asked if I’d like to have them....I said ‘yes’. And the rest is history.   The series here follows my penchant for all things ephemera - and it takes...

Painting Stories

Painting Stories   For some time now, I’ve been intrigued by combining the written word and some of the watercolour artwork I’ve been doing. I’ve thought of the personal side of this, but also writing something that might be more widely subscribed, so to speak.   I’m guessing, actually, that some of the grounding in this approach has grown out of my longer standing interest in painting on ‘ephemera’ - vintage paper that includes everything from letterhead and envelopes to maps, ticket stubs, and cheques. At a much more abstract level, it’s not lost on me that all artwork is...
